Khadir Richie's Singles Gathering Story:
I moved to Atlanta three years ago, and the transition was far more difficult than I expected. Although I’d moved around quite a bit because of my career, Atlanta was the first city in which I didn't have any family or friends. I was a fish out of water, especially as a single man. Most people my age were married, raising kids, and living in the 'burbs. I really needed to find my tribe.
During my second year in Atlanta, I started attending Buckhead Church. I heard about Singles Gatherings and decided to give it a go. To be honest, I was mostly interested in meeting dating prospects. But when I walked into the first Gathering, I quickly realized that there was a large community of single adults in Atlanta that were like me. They were happy, healthy, and hoping to connect with other like-minded individuals. I had found my tribe.
I now have a community of friends, and we’ve had many wonderful experiences together. I’ve given back to the local community through Meals on Wheels and Atlanta Mission. My community has grown exponentially. I believe all of this is an outgrowth from my first Singles Gathering. The short year and a half since I connected with Singles Gatherings has made Atlanta feel much more like home.
